Vintage Glamour

At Ms. Wendy's Antiques, the shop where I rent space, had a fall open house this past weekend. Here are a few pics of some of my favorite findings. Have you heard of Tokyomilk perfumes and soaps? I LOVE their yummy scents and vintage inspired packaging. After becoming smitten, I decided to start sellling some in the shop.

What is a girl to do about a display case? How about a vintage pink and ivory corner medicine cabinet! My heart skipped a beat when I whisked this pretty home!

Here are some close up shots of the perfume bottles - so pretty on the vintage girl's dressing table! Their scents range from soft to edgy. It is terribly difficult to pick one as my very favorite. The scent names: Song in D Minor, Kabuki, Gin and Rose, Dead Sexy, Let Them Eat Cake, Paper and Cotton, French Kiss, Cherry Bomb and Le Petit.

Here are the soaps. It is hard to get a shot of the glittered details of every bar. It makes a magical presentation to give as a gift or a treat for yourself to put next to the bathtub!

I guess you could say this post is also about sparkly! I picked up some pretty jewels by Felicia. Aren't they glam?!

Speaking of sparkly, how about the blinging boho crosses? I love their vintage gypsy appeal! They are available in aqua, pink and oviline.

We are all princesses. We just were different crowns and tiaras! These shabbied crown hooks make organizing as easy as decorating.

Farewell Summer

I love sea shells. Even though we do not live near a beach, there is nothing like sea shells to bring my heart to the ocean's doorstep. My favorite candle {did I say I really, really love candles?} to burn during the summer is Yankee Candle's Sun and Sand. It smells exactly like the beach. I could burn it year round but I love fall and Christmas candles too.

Here is an old iron urn filled with sea shells, some old, some new.

Before I started selling antiques at Ms. Wendy's Antiques, my family bought me this crystal tiered server one Christmas from Ms. Wendy's.

I love it! I have used it to display some of my fav treasures: vintage jewelry, family pics, skeleton keys, my husband's boutoniere from our wedding day and old watch faces.

More sea shells - I have a few of these urns still available at Ms. Wendy's Antiques.

I just freshened up some of my displays. The wooden crate was painted pink on the outside and white on the inside. A little bit of vintage lace, treasures and voila . . . shabby vintage chic goodness!

I LOVE,LOVE,LOVE this primitive bookcase I recently found. If you like vintage hat boxes and millinery, you will swoon over the glass lamp with hat style shade.

Vintage Living

I have been slowly crafting the vintage look I want for our fireplace. Since it is finally looking the way I envisioned, I thought I would share some pics. I know they are kind of dark but I wanted to pick up the dreamy feel when the candles are lit!

As you can see, we have a dark red wall which pops against our bank of white bookcases and mantel. (Don't tell the hubby but I am thinking of changing the color to a creamy cappucino).

The awesome barboard rose pic I picked up from Ms. Wendy's . The creamy ironstone pitcher was a Christmas gift from Wendy. I did not get a close up of the three bunnies but I made those in a porcelain class with my friend Karen. Vintage photo is from Ms. Wendy's too. The vintage architectural pieces were found at Cydney's Alley in Senoia.

I had been on the hunt for the perfect fire screen for some time. Finally, a sweet, white, rusty, chippy planter stand called my name from Cydney's Alley! The little planter cups are perfect for holding candles (I used tea lights) and various other treasures. A chalkware cherub holds a Tyler Co. candle perfectly (did I say the scent was "DIVA" - what else would you expect from a girly girl!). The third piece to complete the "ensemb" is a shabby metal tole candlestick holder with urn. Such shabbyliciousness - I can't stand it! Inside the fireplace are a mirror and vintage silverplate tray.

Treasures and more --- Small nest with eggs to celebrate Spring, vintage tiara for the bling factor and tea light for warmth and sparkle.

Here is a close up of the tiara. I think wearing one is the perfect Rx when a tough decision needs to be made. Ok, so maybe it is just fun to wear whether you are scrapbooking or need to drive your kids crazy. LOL!

Shabby Armoire

Here is an armoire I have recently dropped off at Ms. Wendy's Antiques in Senoia. After several layers of fresh white paint and a wave of the shabbified wand, it is ready for a new home.

I love that the weather is finally warming up here. Garage sale season is upon us and I am all too excited! There is nothing like the hunt and a good cup of tea or coffee to make for a great morning.

Lost and Found

During my yard sale journeys I came across a simple twin bed once enjoyed by a young boy who is now a man. His parents were in the process of downsizing and helped me load his bed into my van.



As I began transforming his bed it occured to me this is where he dreamed, played, ran a fever, read books under the covers with a flashlight, and had the comforts of home. I hope he would not be disturbed by the shabby transformation of his childhood furniture!

With a scrolly applique and layers of white paint, here is the result! I hope this dreamy bed will be enjoyed just the same - dreaming, playing, nursing fevers and reading books by flashlight.

I have the bed for sale at Ms. Wendy's Antiques in Senoia, Ga. www.mswendysantiques.blogspot.com. I began selling items at Ms. Wendy's in September of 2008. It has been a fun and rewarding journey!

If you see me dashing down the road with a large coffee at 7:30 on a Saturday morning, honk fast - a girl has some serious yards sales to find - Ha!

Shabby Organization

I am constantly looking for new ways to use vintage items to organize with panache. Here is a silver tray I picked up at the thrift store (minus one handle). With some delicious pink paint and a wave of the shabby wand, it is now my message center in my kitchen. The lemon dish (or any trinket dish) makes an awesome post-it holder. The sweet milk glass hen corrals the box tops (how about paper clips?) for my kids' elementary school. Lastly, a sweet Lefton vase has a new life as a pen and pencil cup. A neat vintage tag would like nice tied to the handle too! That's my new re-do for today.
